Early bird tickets for 'Only Green'

Take advantage of the early bird tickets available until Oct. 2 for “Only Green,” a captivating dance drama inspired by an ancient Chinese painting. Presented by the esteemed China Oriental Performing Arts Group, the show will grace the stage of Shenzhen Poly Theater from Feb. 1 to 4.

When the enchanting maidens in high buns and vibrant green garments made their debut during the CCTV Spring Festival Gala in early 2022, the audience was immediately won over by the excerpt from “Only Green.” The performance garnered unanimous praise for its exquisite Chinese aesthetics, generating a buzz of attention.

The painting “Thousand Miles of Rivers and Mountains,” residing in the Palace Museum in Beijing, is widely regarded as a treasured heirloom. Created by Song artist Wang Ximeng in the year 1113, when he was just 18 years old, this masterpiece showcases fine brushwork, a majestic composition, rich meaning, and an exquisite green color scheme. It beautifully depicts the vast landscapes of ancient China, in particular Lushan Mountain and Poyang River in Jiangxi Province.

Through a staggered narrative, the dance show takes viewers on a journey as a Palace Museum researcher delves into history, seeking to unravel the secrets behind Wang’s prodigious masterpiece. Within this seven-part performance, traditional crafts such as silk weaving, pigment making, brush making, ink making, and seal engraving are brought into the limelight, showcasing the rich cultural heritage of China.

In September of last year, the show co-directed by renowned choreographers Han Zhen and Zhou Liya was honored with the Wenhua Award. This accolade presented by the Ministry of Culture and Tourism recognizes excellence in Chinese cultural products.
