“Start Here,” a 33-episode Chinese TV series telling compelling tales of technological innovation and entrepreneurship in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area (GBA), began airing on Shenzhen Satellite TV on Oct. 17.

Starring Qin Hailu, Lin Yushen, Rayzha Alimjan and Zhu Yuchen, the TV series depicts the development of artificial intelligence (AI) in the GBA over the past 10 years, portraying aspiring entrepreneurs who faced numerous difficulties in technological research and development.

Hong Kong stars Sunny Sun and Gallen Lo and Taiwanese actor Victor Huang also made special appearances in the TV drama.

How the entrepreneurs solve technical difficulties and funding problems in pursuit of their dreams and how they balance their career and families make up the exciting stories in “Start Here,” which portrays the diversity and openness of the GBA.

Cutting-edge technologies depicted in the TV series, such as precision machinery, bipedal robots and AI, as well as the industrial upgrading of the power industry, exemplify current advancements in the country and the achievements of the past decade.

Governmental officials in subdistricts and municipal bureaus who promote supportive policies for enterprises, and the earlier generation of trailblazers who dedicated their youth to Shenzhen’s development, are also illustrated, enhancing the realism of this TV series.

Stories of minor characters can resonate with the audience as well. For instance, a young man whose family owns apartments wants to break away from living off of rent, so he establishes his own visual effects company. In another example, a Macao designer successfully incorporates traditional cultural elements into her trendy designs and builds her own brand.

With the publicity departments of the Guangdong Provincial Committee of the CPC and the Shenzhen Municipal Committee of the CPC among the producers, the TV series was filmed by companies in Shenzhen, Zhuhai, Zhongshan and Macao, with Hong Kong artists as music producers.
