Firm promotes renewable energy development through innovation

The number of charging piles has expanded at a rapid pace in China on booming demand for electric vehicles (EVs). Shenzhen Infypower Co. Ltd. is among enterprises that have been active in the construction and operation of charging piles.

Established on March 4, 2014, the company’s current business mainly focuses on charging piles and energy storage.

Technology-based

The company values itself as a truly technology-based company with a mission to promote renewable energy development through sustainable technological innovation.

“Through our cutting-edge technologies, we connect wind energy, photovoltaic, energy storage, electric vehicles, and power grids. Our key technologies lie in the connection of these parts,” Wu Xiaoming, senior vice president of Infypower, said in a recent interview with Shenzhen Daily.

“Through power conservation module products and solutions, we are able to connect green energy, realize a seamless power exchange model, drive the prospects of the entire industry, solve the industry’s bottlenecks, and satisfy the real demands of customers,” added Wu.

“Our researchers account for more than 50% of our employees. The number of employees in our company with bachelor’s degrees and above accounts for more than 75%,” said Wu.

According to him, the company’s sales revenue exceeded 1.5 billion yuan (US$210 million) last year, and more than 10% of last year’s total revenue (1.5 billion yuan) was invested in R&D.

“More than 50% of the sales revenue was contributed by overseas business. Our goal this year is to achieve a growth of 60% over last year, so our overall sales target this year would reach 2.5 billion yuan,” said Wu.

“In the first half of this year, our overseas business already rose by over 50%,” according to Wu.

“The charging piles not only benefit staffers based in the office park but also help us get timely feedback on our products especially when we put new products in trial operation,” said Wu.

Business environment

Infypower moved to Shiyan in 2018, attracted by the district’s business environment and the local government’s supporting measures.

“The district has given strong support to our business development. Shiyan has provided us a production base of over 10,000 square meters,” said Wu. “Thanks to the production base, when we receive large orders worth over hundreds of millions of yuan, we can handle the manufacturing with the current infrastructure in place.”

Around 100 new energy firms have been gathered in Shiyan, forming a service model for the energy industry chain, according to Wu.

New energy industry

Shenzhen has set a target of achieving added value of 100 billion yuan in the new energy industry by 2025, as part of the city’s plans to push its renewable energy industry up to a new level, according to the city’s development and reform commission. In 2021, the added value of Shenzhen’s new energy industry stood at about 64.2 billion yuan.

The city also plans to nurture up to five new energy companies with yearly added value of 10 billion yuan by 2025, as well as 30 companies with yearly added value of 1 billion.
