Haishan Park
An exquisite attraction that can be easily overlooked by tourists, Haishan Park, located in Shatoujiao’s Miaogongling in Yantian District, is a small and quiet community park possessing a strong exotic style. It covers an area of 56,395 square meters and is built on a mountain.
Modeled after renowned Spanish architect Antoni Gaudi’s designs in the Park Guell in Barcelona, the park stands out for its artistic area with mosaic steps and an art tower, which can be a big draw for children.
The art tower is composed of the main tower and other supporting structures such as a hiking trail gallery, an undulating wave-shaped bench, and a colorful dragon sculpture stretching around the tower.
More than 2,000 shards of different colors and different materials such as porcelain, glass, and metal were used to form more than 1,000 flower patterns on the façade of the entire complex. The spire of the tower is shaped like a pearl shell, while the tower itself is shaped like a conch, decorated with randomly arranged tiles of various colors. The base part of the tower is hollow inside, like a cave. Entering the tower, you can see a spiral staircase leading to the top of the tower; after climbing up the stairs to the top of the tower, a different expansive view awaits.
Put into use Oct. 1, 2000, the park is conveniently located within walking distance of a Metro station and One Mall, a large shopping and dining complex. The famed Lighthouse Library and the 19.5-kilometers-long Yantian Coastal Promenade are also nearby.
