Four senior executives from multinational companies shared their ideas on investments in Shenzhen and expressed their confidence in the prospects of the city’s development at the conference.
City of learning
Guo Guangchang
Guo Guangchang, chairman of Fosun International, said Fosun and Shenzhen are highly compatible. Shenzhen’s future development is backed by robust policies, ambitious goals, and inherent strengths.
“As a participant, witness, and beneficiary of Shenzhen’s reform and opening up, Fosun will continue to increase its investment in the city,” Guo said.
“I have been to Shenzhen many times. Each time I feel its ambition, strength and robust policies for development. This city is full of opportunities and serves a good platform for global investors,” said Guo, who was honored the title of Shenzhen Investment Promotion Consultant at the conference.
“Shenzhen is a city good at learning, learning from other cities in China and the world. With its inherent pioneering spirit, it is shifting from a young city with vitality into an attractive city with quality and rich cultural content,” Guo added.
Fosun Pharmaceutical will establish its headquarters of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area (GBA) in Pingshan District, making it the company’s second global bio-health headquarters. Fosun International is also planning to build cultural and tourism projects in the city.
Innovation the key
Zhang Yihao
Zhang Yihao, CEO and president of GE Healthcare China, said the year 2023 marks the beginning for GE Healthcare to speed up its investment in Shenzhen. “Innovation is the keyword of Shenzhen, and it is also the DNA of GE Healthcare.”
Shenzhen is not only the Silicon Valley of the East, but is also a world city, he said.
In 2023, GE has settled two projects in Shenzhen.
“GE Healthcare will use Shenzhen as a pivot point to drive the development of our supply, industrial, and innovation chains in the entire Greater Bay Area, and construct a “win-win chain” of high-end medical devices in China,” Zhang said.
High-quality development
Wan Biao
Wan Biao, vice chairman of HONOR Device Co. Ltd., said the company’s three years’ development in Shenzhen is a vivid testament of Shenzhen’s high-quality development and high-level opening up.
He disclosed that in the third quarter of 2023, HONOR’s market share jumped to the first spot in the domestic mobile phone market, with foldable phone sales also ranking at the top.
He said all of this could not have been achieved without the innovative atmosphere and policy support in Shenzhen.
“‘Shenzhen Speed’ is shown in Honor’s development. With the help of the local government, we made an office ready for our 3,000 employees to move in to within 27 days in 2021. It took four months to renovate a 150,000 sqm industrial park in Pingshan for HONOR.”
City of Supercharging
Chen Lin
Chen Lin, executive chairperson of Shell Companies in China, said in a video speech that Shenzhen is the city with the most complete new energy vehicle (NEV) industry chain in the world. Shell is committed to playing a pivotal role in building Shenzhen into a City of Super charging and a global demonstration zone for photovoltaic storage.
According to Chen, the joint venture between Shell and BYD currently operates more than 13,000 electric vehicle charging terminals in the city.
