The 2023 World Match Racing Tour (WMRT) Shenzhen•Bao'an Final and World Bay Area Regatta is in full swing. Twelve of the world’s best match racing skippers from nine countries are competing in the final through Sunday. The winner of the event will be crowned 2023 Match Racing World Champion and take home a share of the US$200,000 purse. Between intense training and matches, the skippers are giving us interviews, talking about their training, their goals and their observations during their visit to Shenzhen.

Mati Sepp (born Oct. 14, 1968) is an all-round sailor having sailed in an Olympic Class Finn and Laser and several One Design X series boats. He was the 2010 X-41  World Champion and 2019 ORC European Champion. He has been competing on the World Match Racing Tour since 2008, placing second at Match Race Germany (2016), and second at the European Match Race Championship (2018). Mati has been ranked as high as #3 in the World Sailing Open rankings. In 2023, he won the Baltic Match Race, finished 2nd at the NJK Spring Cup in Finland, and finished 4th at 2023 Match Cup Sweden, qualifying him for the WMRT Final in Shenzhen.
