Shenzhen, despite being a young and modern city, boasts its own intangible cultural heritage, some of which dates back more than 1,000 years. With distinctive local features, its intangible cultural heritage, which ranks on either the national, provincial or city level, is a common treasure of Shenzhen residents as well as of humanity. To gain a closer and deeper understanding of Shenzhen's intangible cultural heritage as well as its culture development and transformation, we have produced this "Shifu" series, a series of Chinese-English documentaries that feature Rafael Antonio Saavedra Molina from Venezuela visiting Shenzhen's intangible cultural heritage inheritors who he adores as “师傅” (pronounced "shī fu", skilled craftsmen) and “师父” (also pronounced "shī fu", teachers or mentors).
