Introduction to the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area

The development of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area as a geographic and economic entity was initiated in July 1, 2017, with a view to building an international bay area ideal for living, working and traveling through promoting coordinated regional economic development. Comprising the two special administrative regions of Hong Kong and Macao, and the nine cities of Guangzhou, Shenzhen, Zhuhai, Foshan, Huizhou, Dongguan, Zhongshan, Jiangmen and Zhaoqing in Guangdong Province,  the Greater Bay Area covers a total area of around 56,000 square meters and has a total population of over 86 million. Characterized by its high openness, strong economy and constant innovations, the Greater Bay Area is emerging as a world-class city cluster.
