Currently, the construction of various key transportation projects in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area (GBA) are in full gear Among them, the steel box girders of the Huangmao Cross-sea Channel are being installed, and the bridge is expected to be completed and open to traffic by the end of this year.

At the construction site, over 2,800 workers are installing the steel box girders of the bridge deck. With the help of bridge girder erection machines, the steel box girders are being lifted and positioned 70 meters above the sea surface and then welded together like building blocks.

The 31-kilometer-long Huangmao Cross-sea Channel is designed as a two-way six-lane expressway with a speed limit of 100 kilometers per hour. It starts from the Zhuhai (National) Hi-Tech Industrial Development Zone and crosses the mouth of the Pearl River at Yamen, the Huangmao Sea, to connect with the Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macao Bridge. Its west extension connects with the Xintai-Taierzhuang Expressway, intersects with the West Coastal Expressway, and ends at Doushan Town, administered by the county-level city of Taishan in Guandong Province.

The bridge is expected to be completed and open to traffic by the end of 2024. With its opening, the travel time from Zhuhai to Jiangmen and the western Guangdong region will be shortened by about 30 minutes.
