In order to promote the World Dragon and Lion Dance Day, Chinese traditional culture and festive atmosphere around the world, the 2024 Hong Kong Dragon and Lion Dance Festival recently held a parade performance, stage show, and themed carnival at the Avenue of Stars in Tsim Sha Tsui and Hong Kong Cultural Centre. The event gathered 128 lion dance troupes and 1,500 athletes for the parade together.

Among them, Guangzhou's Dongshan Peizheng Primary School and Yangzijing Dongfeng Kindergarten from Yuexiu District, as representatives of the two Guangzhou dragons, witnessed and created new world records together with representatives from various countries around the world. Through cross-cultural communication and interaction, they enhanced the world's understanding of traditional Chinese martial arts and Chinese culture.

It is understood that the first Wushu Alliance (Macao) Office of Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area has been committed to promoting the cultural exchange and cooperation of Wushu in the Greater Bay Area and jointly developing Wushu sports.

Chen Shaoying, head of the Guangzhou Office of the Wushu Alliance (Macao) Office of Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area, introduced, " Excellent Chinese traditional culture is an important bond connecting the people of Guangdong, Hong Kong, and Macao. Dragon and lion dance is also one of the important carriers for the inheritance and development of excellent Chinese traditional culture. I hope that by organizing two representative dragon and lion dance teams of Guangzhou, we can deepen the cultural exchange of dragon and lion dance with our compatriots from Hong Kong and Macao, better showcase the profound heritage of the original Guangdong culture and the charm of the new era. With kids and adults together, we can promote Chinese traditional culture to more people."

During the festival, Dongshan Peizheng Primary School also specifically visited its sister school, Peizheng Primary School in Hong Kong, for cultural exchanges. They learned from each other in teaching research, school management, curriculum development, teacher-student visits, martial arts performances, and other aspects, jointly playing an active role in the development of education in Guangdong and Hong Kong.

Lin Dana, Vice Principal of Dongshan Peizheng Primary School, said, "The Hong Kong Dragon and Lion Dance Festival has provided us with a platform for learning and communication. Through multidimensional visits and diversified exchanges, we have improved the professionality of teachers, broadened the horizons of our students, and jointly enhanced the educational literacy of the two schools with a deeper friendship.'
