Over 500 firms in the e-business field gathered for the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area (GBA) e-commerce high-quality development policy briefing conference held in Bao’an District on Jan. 7 to discuss future prospects of digital trade, Bao’an Daily reported.

During the conference, related government departments introduced preferential policies to help firms better understand and deal with risks.

Staffers from the Shenzhen Municipal Commerce Bureau said that Shenzhen has a great potential in e-business development and Bao’an as a pivot district for industries and foreign trade has been providing impetus for the development of the city’s foreign trade.

In recent years, the scale of Bao’an’s cross-border e-commerce industry has been expanding. As of the end of last October, the district is home to 20% of the city’s cross-border e-commerce related enterprises registered with customs, customs data shows.

Additionally, 77.8% of cross-border e-commerce enterprises in Bao’an District are mainly export-oriented.

Bao’an is also planning to build a cross-border e-commerce industry hub in the GBA, and is working with Qianhai to study and introduce special policies for cross-border e-commerce.

Bao’an will make full use of “digital consumption” to drive the integration of cross-border e-commerce and industrial clusters, and will also utilize the airport to promote logistics efficiency.
