Uzbekistan president visits SZ

The Uzbekistan-China Investment Forum, hosted by Uzbekistan’s Ministry of Investment, Industry and Trade, opened in Shenzhen on Thursday.

Political and business representatives from China and Uzbekistan gathered together to conduct in-depth exchanges and discussions on deepening the implementation of the important consensus reached by the heads of state of the two countries, effectively strengthening economic and trade exchanges, promoting bilateral investment, and expanding opening up.

Shavkat Mirziyoyev, president of the Republic of Uzbekistan, and Huang Kunming, Party chief of Guangdong Province, delivered keynote speeches at the forum. Shenzhen Party chief Meng Fanli also attended the forum’s opening ceremony.

In his speech, Mirziyoyev said he was pleased to see the forum being held in Shenzhen, which symbolizes the miracle of China’s economic development.

Mirziyoyev stated that comprehensive cooperation between Uzbekistan and China has taken solid steps and is moving towards a brighter and broader future. Local cooperation is an important engine for strengthening the all-weather comprehensive strategic partnership and all-round cooperation between Uzbekistan and China in the new era.

“We are willing to continue to deepen local exchanges with Guangdong, actively promote more in-depth cooperation, and strive to achieve more breakthroughs,” Mirziyoyev said.

Huang said in his speech that the forum was not only an important platform for China and Uzbekistan to promote high-quality joint construction of the Belt and Road, but will also greatly deepen exchanges and cooperation between Guangdong and Uzbekistan.

Guangdong will support high-quality enterprises to invest and develop in Uzbekistan, and it welcomes Uzbek enterprises to Guangdong, the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area, and China for investment and development, Huang said.
