New Nanshan Study to open in park

A Nanshan Study built in a park will be open to the public this year. The study, located in Lixiang Parkon Nanguang Road, is the first Nanshan Study built in a park, according to the Nanshan District Culture, Radio, Television, Tourism and Sports Bureau.

The study features characteristic spaces for Party building, immersive reading, and leisure reading.

Nanshan Study, a key public welfare project of Nanshan District, was launched by the Nanshan District Culture, Radio, Television, Tourism and Sports Bureau, and is managed by the Nanshan Library. It aims to create a "10-minute circle of culture" covering the whole district.

Currently, four branches of Nanshan Study, including Pingyuan Xuan, Tingyun Xuan, Xunfeng Ge, and Xiangqun Xuan, have been put into operation and several more are under planning and construction.

The 24-hour self-service smart studies aim to create diverse cultural spaces that can fulfill different readers' varied reading preferences. Recognized as an excellent case of public cultural services in Guangdong Province, the project pioneers an individualized, intelligent, and interactive reading model, effectively enhancing the accessibility of cultural facilities to the public.

In 2023, the four studies received over 520,000 visits and more than 860,000 reservations, with each reader staying for over 2 hours on average, according to the Nanshan Library.


Nanshan Study at a glance

Nanshan Study - Pingyuan Xuan

Nanshan Study-Pingyuan Xuan, the first study of the project, covers an area of 170 square meters, equipped with 21 immersive reading and 27 leisure reading seats. Created with the concept of “Studies of Masters,” the study was named by humanities scholar Chen Pingyuan, housing over 600 volumes of Chen's donated works and more than 4,500 books on literature, history, and ancient and modern art.

Nanshan Study - Tingyun Xuan

Nanshan Study-Tingyun Xuan, occupying 200 square meters, features two floors with several characteristic spaces. It houses a total of 5,577 books donated by Professor Li Fengliang, including his works, recommendations, and books related to his research fields.

Nanshan Study - Xunfeng Ge

Nanshan Study-Xunfeng Ge is managed by Wang Luxiang, a renowned expert in Chinese calligraphy and painting. Featuring a painting and calligraphy-themed reading environment, the study welcomes residents and visitors to experience the rich tapestry of Chinese culture through the lens of calligraphy and art.

Nanshan Study - Xiangqun Xuan

Themed around sculpture, the Nanshan Study - Xiangqun Xuan is led by renowned Chinese sculptor and educator Li Xiangqun. The study features characteristic spaces such as the Xiangqun art spaceand has 92 indoor seats.
