Free concerts for March

March is a time to enjoy warm sunshine, fresh spring scenes, and soothing music. Shenzhen Concert Hall has prepared three public benefit concerts for local fans on Saturday afternoons.

On March 2, students and teachers from Bao’an District’s zheng (Chinese plucked board zither) society will stage a concert featuring Chinese instruments such as the zheng and the ruan (Chinese moon guitar). The program will include familiar Chinese tunes like “Spring Festival Overture” and “Evening Songs on a Fishing Boat.”

On March 16, a string quartet consisting of Fu Qianqian, Chen Tongxin, Zhang Yalin, and Bin Yuhan will perform the works of Haydn, Mendelssohn, Beethoven, and Schubert. Fan favorites such as “Jasmine Flower,” Astor Piazzolla’s “Oblivion,” and Pachelbel’s “Canon in D,” which is the world’s most popular wedding song, will also be included.

Then, on March 23, Gleb Dontsov and Marianna Terteryan, a husband-and-wife violin duo from Russia, will give a concert featuring the works of Reinhold Glière, a 20th century Russian composer renowned for superb melodies, alongside their colleagues and students from Violin Art.

Admission is free, but tickets are required. Those interested can reserve for tickets at the Official WeChat account of Shenzhen Concert Hall (ID: szyinyuet).
