Futian trade delegation promote opportunities in Europe

A trade delegation from Futian visited three countries in Europe late February to promote business opportunities to as well as lure European investors.

During the 10-day visit, the Futian delegation met with 23 government agencies, businesses, and industrial associations in Milan, Rome, Paris, and London.

The delegation held two conferences to promote Futian's industries, signed four strategic cooperation agreements, and reached cooperation intentions on 14 projects. These activities attracted a total of 389 companies and institutions.

During an investment promotional eventheld in London on Feb. 29 to promote investment opportunities to U.K. businesses, an agreement was signed between Gensol (Shenzhen) Tech Innovation Center Co., a Futian-based company focusing on cross-border industry services between China and Europe, and the Oxford International Biomedical Enabling Center, a U.K. biomedical company that plans to establish a site in Futian.

Huang said Futian enjoys a superior geographical location and is the administrative, financial, commercial, cultural, and international communication centerof Shenzhen, widely known worldwide as China's tech hub. 

Huang said Futian is the world's gateway into Shenzhen, as Futian and Huanggang, the district's two major ports, connect it internationally.

He said Futian is ramping up policy support to international research organizations, foreign financial institutions, and world-renowned fashion brands that are considering building theirfoothold in theregion.

Graham Russell, co-founder and chairman of the OIBEC and emeritus professor of musculoskeletal pharmacology at the University of Oxford, described the opportunities Futian offers as “very attractive.” 

During the two days in London, the Futian delegation also visited the mayor's office in the City of London and the China-Britain Business Council, holding talks targeting areas such as finance and technological mutual exchanges.

The Futian delegation met with Vincent Thomas Keaveny, the 693rd mayor of the City of London, and discussed setting up a cooperation mechanism for fintech innovation. Both parties agreed that they will join hands in areas such as technology finance, green finance, and sustainable finance.

The delegation also held talks with Lise Bertelsen, executive director of the China-Britain Business Council,and the two sides agreed to promote the establishment of an innovation center in Shenzhenby the council.
