The Feinaki Spring Animation Season will be held for the first time at the Meisha Arts Center in Yantian District from April 4 to 6.

The center, located just beside Dameisha beach and very close to the Dameisha Station on Metro Line 8, will not only provide visitors with sunshine, a nice beach, and enchanting sea views, but also a string of exquisite cartoons.

A total of 36 animation works from 20 countries and regions will be exhibited during the event, many of which have received accolades at world-renowned photography exhibitions and animation festivals.

The exhibition will be divided into five categories: A, B, C, D, and E. Categories A (the budding season) and B (the waves and stars), are suitable for audiences of all ages. On the other hand, categories C, D, and E are more appropriate for viewers aged 14 and above.

Furthermore, the audience will have the opportunity to experience animations that combine advanced technologies with humanistic ideas. "My Inner Ear Quartet," by Japanese anime master Koji Yamamura using VR technology, will be showcased.

In addition to screening various cartoons, the event has invited some Chinese artists to conduct workshops on-site where visitors can learn how to create anime works themselves.

The term “Feinaki” is derived from “phenakistoscope,” an early animation device that used a spinning disk of sequential images and the persistence of vision principle to create an illusion of motion. The first Feinaki Animation Week was held in Beijing in 2019.
