211 disciplines from 27 Guangdong universities rank in the global top 1% in ESI

Clarivate Analytics released the ESI statistical data from Jan. 1  to Dec. 31, 2023 on March 15. 

According to the data, 27 universities in Guangdong Province have excelled with 211 disciplines ranking in the top 1% globally.

A total of 27 disciplines from nine universities in Guangdong Province, namely Sun Yat-sen University, South China University of Technology, Shenzhen University, Southern Medical University, Jinan University, Southern University of Science and Technology, Guangzhou Medical University, Guangdong University of Technology, and South China Agricultural University, have achieved the top 1‰ ranking globally.

Sun Yat-sen University

Sun Yat-sen University leads the pack among Guangdong universities with 10 disciplines ranking in the top 1%.

South China University of Technology (5 disciplines) and Shenzhen University (4 disciplines) follow closely in second and third place, respectively.

In terms of the number of disciplines in the top 1%, Sun Yat-sen University, Jinan University, and Shenzhen University take the lead with 21, 19, and 18 disciplines respectively.

Among the top 100 universities in China, 10 universities from Guangdong have made the list, with five of them ranking in the top 50. Sun Yat-sen University holds the sixth position, followed by South China University of Technology at 19th, Shenzhen University at 36th, Southern Medical University at 46th, and Jinan University at 48th.

Sun Yat-sen University has climbed three spots, maintaining its position among the top 100 universities worldwide and now ranking 91st.

Shenzhen University

Shenzhen University has ascended by 10 positions to claim the 363rd spot globally; Southern Medical University has advanced by 14 places to secure the 484th position worldwide; and Jinan University has ascended by 12 spots to attain the 493rd position globally. (GD Today)
