The Peking University HSBC Business School (PHBS) hosted its second International Culture Day on Sunday. The campus was transformed into a lively showcase of the world, with over 20 countries and various regions of China represented by students, faculty, and guests alike.

Set against the picturesque University Town of PKU Shenzhen in Nanshan District, by the serene Mirror Lake and its expansive green spaces, the day was a sensory delight. Attendees wandered through a series of booths, each opening into the diverse cultural realms of different nations and Chinese provinces. Manned by the students themselves, these stalls offered visitors a peek into distinctive traditions, from traditional attire and games to an exciting array of global cuisines.

Scenes of people laughing and sharing over a spread of international dishes — from the fluffiness of French crêpes and the zest of Vietnamese spring rolls to the sweetness of Beijing tanghulu and the savoriness of Russian pancakes — brought the campus to life.

The celebration wasn’t limited to just feasting. It featured a mix of interactive games, quizzes, and craft-making sessions that invited everyone to explore different cultural practices and lifestyles. These activities celebrated the wealth of traditions from across the globe as well as China’s own rich cultural heritage.

Through fostering an international environment and promoting cross-cultural interactions, PHBS aims to spark new conversations, forge stronger bonds, and expand the global outlook of its community.
