Public benefit concerts for April

This April, Shenzhen Concert Hall will present Chinese, piano and string music in its two public benefit concert series.

On April 10, the musicians of Yantian Chinese Orchestra will perform a Chinese music concert outdoors on the campus of Southern University of Science and Technology (SUSTech), bringing such familiar tunes as “A Beautiful Night” and “Colorful Clouds Chasing the Moon.” Audiences will also hear Jay Chou’s “Mojito” and Vittorio Monti’s “Czardas.” Performing alongside the Yantian musicians will be members of SUSTech’s student orchestra. They will bring “The Torch Festival” and “Butterfly and Blue.” The show will begin at 12:15 p.m. at the Banyan Tree Plaza on campus.

On April 13, cello teacher Xiao Ting and viola teacher Ye Zonghan from Shenzhen Arts School will lead their students to perform a string concert featuring the works of Bach, Dvorak and Lowell Liebermann, as well as familiar Chinese tunes such as “Jasmine Flower.”

On April 14, several teachers of Lang Lang Music World, all of whom graduated from top conservatories abroad, will perform a piano concert, featuring the works from classical to romantic and contemporary composers. The program will include waltz from “The Sleeping Beauty,” “Peer Gynt Suite No. 1,” “Petrushka” and “Ride of the Valkyries.”

On April 20, Hao He, a teacher of Shenzhen University, will perform alongside her students multiple pieces by Chinese composers. The program will include Chen Yi’s “The West China Suites,” Chu Wanghua’s “Xinjiang Caprices” and Zhang Zhao’s “Ballade.”

On April 27, Liao Weiquan, Tan Yongkuang, Li Meng and others will perform a ukelele concert, featuring “This Old Guitar Chords,” “The World Is Getting Smaller” as well as original works.


Tickets: 10-30 yuan for the concert on April 14 

The rest of the shows allow free admissions, but tickets are needed. Follow the concert hall’s official WeChat account (ID: szyinyuet) to reserve tickets.
