Explore tradition and modernity at poster festival

The Hehu International Poster Festival is currently taking place at the Creativity and Innovation Center in the Longcheng Creativity Commune (Longcheng CC), Longgang District through May 12.

Featuring a collection of 234 works, the exhibition showcases a variety of posters inspired by the traditional culture of Longgang and the Hakka legacy, as well as commercial posters for business services and activities, and posters for raising awareness about social issues such as environmental protection, biodiversity, people with special needs, and a shared future for mankind.

Many works incorporate forward-thinking concepts through digital multimedia and dynamic visual designs with a global perspective. They reflect an exchange between local and world cultures, demonstrating a fusion of traditional cultural elements with scientific and technological innovations.

The festival was launched Dec. 30, 2023 at Hehu New Residence, a Hakka residence built in the 18th century. The unique location served as a backdrop for revitalizing the traditional Hakka compound, presenting a magnificent blend of history, culture and modern art.

Following its initial exhibition at the residence, the festival has now transitioned to the Longcheng CC. This site, formerly a car repair plant, has been transformed into a hub comprising the Creativity and Innovation Center — a space dedicated to showcasing digital creative works — as well as a hotel, youth apartments, offices, shops, and restaurants.
