Stunning 'bougainvillea waterfall' and photography tips

Writer: Tang Li  |  Editor: Zhang Zeling  |  From: Original  |  Updated: 2024-04-12

As this week with six consecutive workdays draws to a close, the impending weekend beckons thoughts of travel and relaxation.

In a flourish of vibrant colors, the bougainvillea flowers in Shenzhen take center stage, boasting their full bloom during this seasonal spectacle. Flourishing along the streets and alleys of the city, these flowers have become the focus of sight, especially the mesmerizing display outside the multi-story parking lot entrance of Shenzhen Fairy Lake Botanical Garden.

The bougainvillea flowers at this location burst into a stunning array of colors -- pink, red, purple, white, yellow -- creating a cascading floral waterfall that is a photographer’s dream. The parking garage, adorned with these blossoms, appears almost ready to overflow under the bright sun, attracting passersby to capture its beauty with their cameras. While the parking garage spans six levels, photographers are advised to focus their lenses on the first to fourth levels for optimal angles. Please note that drones are prohibited in this area.

Optimal shooting times are recommended before 10 a.m. or after 3:30 p.m. when the sun’s rays are less harsh, casting a softer light on the scene. Light-colored clothing is suggested for visitors to blend harmoniously with the surroundings. Safety remains a priority as the location is an active parking area.

Shenzhen Fairy Lake Botanical Garden, nestled at 160 Xianhu Road, Liantang, Luohu District, with Wutong Mountain to the east and the Shenzhen Reservoir to the west, spans 668 hectares. The multi-story parking structure at its entrance offers a picturesque setting for photography enthusiasts, and the best part -- it’s free to shoot without entering the botanical garden.

So, as the weekend approaches, for those seeking a floral escape and a touch of natural splendor, this “bougainvillea waterfall” promises a breathtaking and Instagram-worthy experience just a snapshot away.
