As a core area of Guangdong's artificial intelligence (AI) industry and a key manufacturing hub for Shenzhen's high-end AI products, Longhua District aimed to foster new productive forces via developing more general AI models.

The district launched an intelligent computing center for newly-emerged industries at its high-quality development conference on Feb. 18. The center, jointly operated by Longhua Data Co., Ltd. and Shenzhen Mobile, will empower the digital transformation of enterprises and support the construction of a software industrial base in the Shenzhen North Railway Station area.

The center will be deployed 1,000 PFLOPS of computing power, which is the first of its kind in Shenzhen. It is also the first intelligent computing ceter in South China supported by liquid cooling technology and China Mobile’s Baichuan integrated computing power network.

As the inaugural intelligent computing center in Longhua District and one of the largest intelligent computing centers in Shenzhen, the establishment of the center will enhance the accessibility of computing power and algorithm research and development for innovative small and medium-sized enterprises, meet the requirements for high-concurrency computing power for fundation model training, promote the aggregation of the digital economy industry, and provide new impetus for innovation-driven high-quality development.

The district issued a two-year action plan for the innovative development of AI on the conference, which specified five major strategies that propel the construction of a multi-layered computing power supply system.

The strategies include linking resources at city level to establish a computing power hub that benefits the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area (GBA), establishing several district-level computing power dispatching centers to bolster computing power supply capabilities, fostering the growth of rental computing power to facilitate resource integration via cloud services, expediting the advancement of eco-friendly AI technology to facilitate the creation of low-carbon computing centers, and building up computing network infrastructure to connect with major platforms.

The Longhua District Government signed an agreement with iFLYTEK at the conference to jointly foster new momentum for the AI and innovative development.

As per the agreement, iFLYTEK will establish its GBA headquarters in Shenzhen, aiming to explore additional local AI application scenarios, and will locate its computing power database in Longhua District.

Alongside iFLYTEK, local enterprises such as Hikvision Technology, Inovance Technology, and Jieshun Technology are actively pursuing AI technology applications to drive industrial development forward.

The district is poised to significantly contribute to Shenzhen's endeavors in constructing a national pilot demonstration zone for innovative AI technology development and application, as well as solidifying its status as an AI pioneer city.
