Golfathon tees off at Mission Hills Dongguan

The 2024 Mission Hills Golfathon commenced April 12 at Mission Hills Dongguan, heralding the dawn of its 21st annual iteration and setting the stage for golfers to showcase their skills.

Registration for the event is still ongoing and those who register before April 30 will receive one Mission Hills green fee voucher, organizers said.

The event presents a platform for participants to navigate nine distinctive courses in Shenzhen and Dongguan within five days to vie for the coveted "Ironman Spirit Award" certificate.

This year's extravaganza boasts a diverse array of categories, encompassing Men's Senior Group, Men's Group, Women's Group, Boys' Group (15-17 years), Young Boys' Group (12-14 years), and Girls' Group (12-17 years). Recognizing excellence, the competition will crown champions across divisions, ensuring recognition for skill and determination.

Charting a rigorous path to glory, contenders must navigate a series of qualifying matches across the nine courses over a five-month span, with the top 100 triumphant players advancing to engage in the culminating showdown -- the 2024 Mission Hills Golfathon Grand Finals slated for Sept. 30 at Mission Hills Dongguan.

Reflecting on past triumphs and envisioning future horizons, Han Zhishan, general manager of Mission Hills Golf Club, expressed, "Entering a new decade, our approach remains dynamic as we aspire to unite participants across the globe and cultivate a legacy of excellence in Chinese golf events."

Celebrating unprecedented participation exceeding 11,000 enthusiasts in the preceding year, the Golfathon's legacy, born in 2004 to commemorate Mission Hills' distinction as the globe's largest golf club, continues to captivate golf lovers worldwide.

The event has so far attracted over 100,000 participants from an array of nations, igniting a fervor for the sport.
