'Art Takeaway' nominated as national excellent project

The innovative “Art Takeaway” project in Pingshan District has been nominated as a “national art museum excellent public education project” for 2023 by the Ministry of Culture and Tourism’s Art Department.

Guided by the Pingshan District Culture, Radio, Television, Tourism and Sports Bureau’s initiative of holding public art activities in communities, schools, universities, industrial parks, and factories, the Pingshan Art Museum (PAM) launched the “Art Takeaway” project in May 2023.

Through collaborative efforts with residents, students, teachers, shop staff, and industrial park employees, the project has been cultivating a sustainable public education network and delving into Pingshan’s history and life stories in industrial parks, communities, schools and factories.

Over the span of half a year, the project involved extensive field studies and community explorations, and it encouraged individuals from all walks of life to utilize their senses to discover and document Pingshan’s distinctive attributes through more than 60 activities.

Previously, the project received recognition as Shenzhen’s top 10 public culture and art project for 2023 and Shenzhen’s culture volunteer service demonstration project.

The culmination of this endeavor was showcased in the “Flavor of Pingshan: PAM Art Takeaway Exhibition” held at Yepsun Quality in the Pingshan Culture Center in February and March. The exhibition presented a diverse array of creations, from students’ collage artworks to tote bags repurposed from recycled flour sacks, and art installations crafted using various materials.

The exhibition offered visitors new perspectives on Pingshan’s culture, communities, history, and daily life. Additionally, it sought to prompt a reconsideration of the relationship between individuals and the local area.
