Tennis prodigies converge in Guangming for competitions

China's Gao Xinyu wins the title of ITF W50 Shenzhen Guangming Open.

The 2024 "Science City Cup" ITF W50 Shenzhen Guangming Open came to an end after a thrilling eight-day competition. This prestigious event featured 258 players from 40 countries and territories, showcasing exceptional talent on the tennis court. Gao Xinyu emerged as the champion in the women's singles category, while the talented Cho I-hsuan and Cho Yi-tsen from Chinese Taipei secured victory in the women's doubles.

In an exciting women's doubles final April 13, the Cho sisters displayed their dominance by defeating Feng Shuo and Wang Jiaqi 2-0, successfully defending their title from the previous year. The women's singles final witnessed Gao Xinyu facing off against Wei Sijia, with Gao's impressive straight-set victory securing her the coveted women's singles championship.

Guangming District has been dedicated to establishing itself as a top destination for tennis sports events. Through continuous efforts, the district has successfully attracted prestigious competitions like the Guangdong Province Youth Ranking Tournament and the China Youth Tennis Tour, solidifying its reputation as a hub for tennis excellence.

The excitement continues from April 14 to 21 with the commencement of the 2024 ITF International Tennis Federation Youth U18 Tennis Tour Shenzhen Guangming Station (J60) at the state-of-the-art Guangming Mass Sports Center. A week of competitive tennis awaits as a multitude of promising talent, both local and international, converge in Guangming. More than 500 players from over 10 countries and regions around the world, including China, Thailand, Singapore, the United States, and more, are part of this global spectacle.

The tour is a pinnacle event specifically designed for outstanding players under the age of 18, aimed at showcasing the emerging talent within the global tennis community.

As this event unfolds, young tennis prodigies from various parts of the world will have the opportunity to witness the charm of Guangming District — an emerging metropolis that combines ecological sustainability with cutting-edge technology. This tournament marks the beginning of an exhilarating tennis extravaganza filled with youthful exuberance and sporting prowess in this vibrant district.
