German business delegation visits Pingshan

A delegation from IHK Schwaben, the Chamber of Industry and Commerce in Germany’s Swabia region, visited Pingshan last week in search of cooperation opportunities.

Hailing from a region renowned for its manufacturing prowess, IHK Schwaben boasts a membership of over 150,000 enterprises and has been a stalwart support system for Swabian businesses since its establishment in 1843. Serving as a representative body across diverse industries, IHK Schwaben plays a pivotal role in championing and fostering the interests of businesses in the Swabia region.

Led by IHK Schwaben’s CEO, Marc Lucassen, the delegation, comprising representatives from 16 enterprises, embarked on a series of visits to key establishments in Pingshan including the BYD headquarters, KK Mold, and Shenzhen Technology University.

Their experiences ranged from test-driving BYD’s electric SUV, the Yang Wang U8, to delving into the realm of robotaxis. The delegation was able to witness Pingshan’s innovation, robust economic growth, and infrastructure advancements.

Jens Wachtendonk, head of corporate investment at STIHL, expressed his astonishment at the technological marvels witnessed, especially praising the BYD Yang Wang U8 for its cutting-edge advancements.

Johannes Schilp, a digital production and artificial intelligence expert from the University of Augsburg, described his ride in a robotaxi as a remarkable experience, noting Pingshan companies’ robust capabilities in research, development, and product excellence.

Carsten Markgraf of the University of Applied Sciences Augsburg emphasized the dynamic efficiency of enterprises in Pingshan and envisioned various avenues for collaboration, such as student exchange initiatives with Shenzhen Technology University and collaborative research ventures with Pingshan enterprises to pioneer cutting-edge technologies and products.
