Splendid China hosts culture week during May Day holiday

A five-day culture week showcasing the customs of the Dong ethnic group commenced today at the Splendid China • China Folk Culture Villages theme park in Nanshan District. The event aims to highlight the diverse and unique culture of the Dong people.

In a collaborative effort between the theme park and the Government of Tongdao Dong Autonomous County in Hunan Province, this culture week offers a comprehensive display of Dong customs from various perspectives, including natural scenery, ethnic culture, singing and dancing arts, and handicrafts.

Visitors will be greeted with a traditional welcoming wine before entering the Dong village in the theme park, symbolizing the Dong people’s most solemn welcome etiquette. They can also enjoy the Lusheng (a reed-pipe wind instrument) Dance, witness barehanded knife climbing and fire walking, taste the camellia oleifera, and explore a mini exhibition showcasing the Dong ethnic group’s culture.

In addition to the culture week, tourists can immerse themselves in the China Fun Cultural Festival in the theme park during the May Day holiday, featuring Hanfu parades, large-scale art performances, and interactive games.
