The expo promises a variety of exciting activities and exhibits for visitors. It features a spectacular bluefin tuna cutting show in which top seafood experts will showcase their skills, and a competition for the title of Asia’s International Master Chef.

Dates: May 17-19

‘Les Misérables’

A new Chinese-language theater production of Victor Hugo’s “Les Misérables” stars renowned Chinese film actor Liu Ye as Jean Valjean and is directed by French theater artist Jean Bellorini. The play is part of a theater project of the China-France Year of Culture and Tourism 2024.

Retrospective film event honors Pema Tseden

To commemorate the first anniversary of the passing of Chinese film director Pema Tseden, a retrospective film screening event will be held over the weekends from May 18 to June 2. Attendees will have the opportunity to view a selection of his distinguished arthouse films showcasing Tibetan life. All of the three short and eight feature-length films will be shown with English and Chinese subtitles, except for “The Weatherma’s Legacy” and “Snow Leopard,” which only have Chinese subtitles.

Music from Chinese costume dramas

Under the Baton of Wang Yi, the resident conductor of The Chinese University of Hong Kong, Shenzhen's Chinese orchestra, the Haishanguo Orchestra will interpret melodies from popular Chinese costume dramas inlcuding "Story of Yanxi Palace," "The Untamed," "Nirvana in Fire," and "The Journey of Flower."

Music from film classics

From "City of Stars" from "La La Land," "The Music of the Night" from "The Phantom of the Opera," to "Speak Softly Love" from "The Godfather," and "My Heart Will Go On" from "Titanic," indulge yourself in this concert featuring familiar melodies from film classics with a weight on love-themed songs, presented by the Unicorn Chamber Orchestra.

Violin recital

He Zhanhao’s pieces

Jorge Rando’s paintings

Contemporary Spanish artist Jorge Rando, known for his expressive and emotive paintings, is exhibiting 118 paintings created since the 1960s at the “Different Cycles From Different Eras United by a Single Paintbrush” exhibition at Shenzhen Art Museum’s Longhua division.
