Local public art design consultancy AaRT will showcase artworks by Choi Hanjin and Gil Bruvel at the Art • Design • China Chic Hall (Hall 16) during the 20th China (Shenzhen) International Cultural Industries Fair (ICIF) on May 23 to 27 at the Shenzhen World Exhibition and Convention Center.

Choi’s sculpture, “Island Boy,” draws inspiration from the essence of life. Featuring a youthful figure and a pet, it symbolizes joy and companionship, aiming to evoke a sense of childhood innocence, optimism, and happiness among urban dwellers. This artwork encourages a rediscovery of upbeat spirit and a confident stride towards the future, reflecting the hardworking nature of Shenzhen residents and a cultural ambience of joy, positivity, openness, and friendliness in the local arts scene.

“Unwrapped” by Gil Bruvel.

Bruvel’s “Unwrapped” is from his “Hearts” series which delves into the concept of the heart as the ultimate symbol of love and its boundless power. “Simple, yet elegant and beautiful, the infinity reflected in hearts reveals the pleasing elation of spirits aiming at everlasting and eternal love. The elevated hearts within hearts are the embodiment of the human power of emotions uplifting our spirits,” the artist writes about the series on his website.

In a recent interview, Bruvel shared that “Unwrapped” is not only the culmination of his personal artistic journey but also a reflection of the cultural, artistic and intellectual freedoms championed by ICIF.

As ICIF celebrates its 20th anniversary, both artists have conveyed their aspirations for the fair, emphasizing its role as a pivotal platform for global cultural and artistic exchange. They said that ICIF exemplifies the high standard of China’s cultural industry and will continue to foster international dialogues in the years to come.

They envision ICIF evolving into a premier global cultural event facilitating the exchange and integration of diverse artistic traditions from around the world, and continuing to contribute to the enrichment and advancement of cultural arts on a global scale. (SD News)
