As the second phase of its special car purchase promotion gains momentum, Nanshan District has unveiled a fresh campaign to boost consumer expenditure –an exclusive online trade-in event for consumer goods.

The campaign debuted on JD.com, one of China’s leading e-commerce platforms, on June 8, and is set to run through August.

The initiative will see the introduction of trade-ins for home appliances in June, followed by those for consumer electronics in July. Shoppers participating in the trade-in on JD.com for eligible electronics and appliances will be eligible for a maximum subsidy of 10% of the product’s sales price.

The subsidy for each transaction is capped at 500 yuan (US$68.9), with each consumer eligible for a total of four subsidies (two for household appliances and two for consumer electronics).

The cumulative subsidy per consumer is limited to 2,000 yuan. The overall subsidy pool amounts to 40 million yuan, divided equally between home appliances and consumer electronics, and will be distributed on a first-come, first-served basis until exhausted.
