

SZ-produced documentary wins French award

The Chinese documentary “One Person/Hundred Bridges,” produced by companies in Shenzhen, has recently won the Best Documentary Short Award at the 2024 French Riviera Film Festival (FRFF).
The documentary stood out among 3,000 entries to claim this prestigious honor, following its receipt of the Excellent Documentary Award from China’s National Radio and Television Administration.

Co-produced by Shenzhen Cangjie Tong Culture Co. Ltd. and Shenzhen Jinxiu Dadi Investment Co. Ltd., the documentary made its debut on China Central Television’s Documentary Channel in 2022 before airing on Phoenix TV, Shenzhen Satellite TV, Tencent Video, iQiyi, Youku, Bilibili, and various international platforms, earning widespread acclaim.
Centered on the story of Wu Liguan, a retired army veteran in Shenzhen, the documentary showcases his 16-year journey photographing and studying ancient bridges across China, revealing the rich cultural heritage behind hundreds of these structures.

During his extensive travels spanning 26 provinces and 230,000 kilometers since 2005, Wu documented over 600 ancient bridges in diverse forms. These bridges not only embody the superb construction techniques of ancient China but also encapsulate profound cultural legacy and invaluable historical significance, inspiring awe among viewers.
The FRFF, held annually in Cannes, France, celebrates and acknowledges short-form content created for film, television, web, and digital platforms. This year, filmmakers worldwide were invited to participate in the two-day festival in mid-May, featuring screenings, an award ceremony, and a closing gala party. The event drew filmmakers, industry professionals, media representatives, and influencers from across the globe.
