Vanke Design Commune A new hangout for SZ youth

The Vanke Design Commune, part of the Vanke Cloud City in Shenzhen’s Nanshan District, is making waves as the latest hotspot for Shenzhen’s young crowd, combining the charm of a courtyard-style layout with low-density urban park features and open connectivity. Much of its expanse cleverly conceals beneath sunken spaces, while the surface above is a verdant paradise, akin to a hidden labyrinth nestled within the city.

Branded as a “cultural creative park,” streets in the area weave through numerous innovative boutiques, surrounded by landmarks such as the DJI headquarters and the Intel Greater Bay Area Tech Innovation Center.

Stepping into the Vanke Design Commune, a sea of greenery greets visitors, plants cascading like waterfalls, with suspended orange walkways hanging in mid-air. The spatial layout creates a comfortable and leisurely ambiance, akin to entering a park within the CBD.

For those working here, taking a break means strolling along elevated walkways or leisurely lounging, enviable office surroundings that invite envy. Walking the streets evokes a sense of exploring a maze, where industrial-themed zones intersect with European architecture, dappled light filtering through branches onto walls, reminiscent of a 3D rendering from a cityscape game.

The area isn’t just about park strolls; it’s also about laying back with a coffee, exploring art spaces, and discovering hidden gem stores in its alleyways — perfect for a relaxing weekend getaway.

Let’s catch a glimpse of this area through the lens of Shenzhen Daily photographer Lin Songtao.
