Shenzhen will have a new cultural landmark in Longhua District as the construction of the Shenzhen Cultural Center’s new venue is expected to be completed in 2025.

Positioned at the crossroads of Minzhi Boulevard and Minkang Road, this facility is situated in close proximity to Minzhi Metro Station on Line 5.

Encompassing an impressive 31,367 square meters, it will blend education, exchanges, training, performances, exhibitions, and cultural creativity. It is poised to become a pivotal cultural exchange hub in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area, serving a crucial role in public cultural service provision.

Featuring four distinct performance spaces, four exhibition areas, as well as facilities for diverse training programs and a specialized library catering to art books, this venue boasts a plethora of functions. Among the performance spaces are a comprehensive theater, an avant-garde theater, a multifunctional hall, and a black box theater.

The comprehensive theater is equipped for grand performances and educational events like masterclasses. The avant-garde theater, a 500-seat concert hall devoid of amplification systems, will host a variety of events such as concerts, dances, lectures, and avant-garde dramas.

The multifunctional hall, with its adaptable stage, will accommodate rehearsals, film screenings, conferences, performances, ceremonies, and more. Finally, the black box theater is a flexible indoor space allowing for dynamic stage configurations and audience seating.

Embodying a design concept inspired by boats and villages, the venue symbolizes a vessel of culture and an art village in the sky. Three interconnected squares form an art promenade, with a street meandering through a performance hall toward the waterfront. Offering a park-like ambiance, citizens can easily navigate the diverse spaces and unwind beneath verdant trees in the square. To optimize public space in an environmentally conscious manner, designers have incorporated perennial ornamental grasses and constructed a rooftop walkway for visitors to relax, take in panoramic city views, and revel in the serene atmosphere.
