French Film Panorama to hit town

The 2024 Panorama du Cinéma Français (French Film Panorama in China) will screen eight feature-length films and a short film from France in Shenzhen on July 11-26.

‘La Passion de Dodin Bouffant’ (The Taste of Things)

“La Passion de Dodin Bouffant”

Plot: 

Set in France in 1889, the film, directed by Tran Anh Hung, follows the life of Dodin (Benoît Magimel) as a chef living with his personal cook and lover Eugénie (Juliette Binoche). They share a long history of gastronomy and love but Eugénie refuses to marry Dodin, so the food lover decides to do something he has never done before: cook for her.

‘Dahomey’

Plot: 

“Dahomey” is about the journey of 26 plundered royal treasures from the Kingdom of Dahomey exhibited in Paris, now being returned to Benin. Director Mati Diop artistically voices a new generation’s demands.

‘Le Livre des Solutions’(The Book of Solutions)

Plot: 

The comedy follows a director who tries to vanquish his demons, which are oppressing his creativity.

‘L’Étoile Filante’ (The Falling Star)

Plot: 

A former activist has been a fugitive for 35 years, and works as a bartender.His past finally catches up with him when a mysterious stranger appears at the bar, armed and seeking revenge.

‘Linda Veut du Poulet!’(Chicken for Linda!)

Plot: 

Paulette realizes she has unfairly punished her daughter Linda. To make it up to her, she promises to cook a chicken with peppers, even if she cannot cook at all, but where to find a chicken on a strike day when all the shops are closed?

‘Ce Magnifique Gâteau!’(This Magnificent Cake!)

Plot: 

Set in Africa in the late 19th century, the film tells the stories of five characters: a troubled king, a middle-aged man working in a luxury hotel, a failed businessman on an expedition, a lost porter and a young army deserter.

‘Le Procès Goldman’(The Goldman Case)

Plot: 

The movie chronicles the trial of Pierre Goldman, a French left-wing revolutionary convicted of several robberies and mysteriously murdered.

‘Le Successeur’ (The Successor)

Plot: 

When a French haute couture house artistic director learns that his father has just died of a heart attack, he goes to Quebec to settle the estate. The young creator will discover that he has inherited much worse than his father’s fragile heart.

‘Les Trois Mousquetaires: D’Artagnan’ (The Three Musketeers: D’Artagnan)

Plot: 

D’Artagnan arrives in Paris seeking his attackers after being left for dead, leading him into a real war where the future of France is at stake. He aligns himself with Athos, Porthos and Aramis, three musketeers of the king.
