As the Paris 2024 Summer Olympics approach, Shenzhen’s enthusiasm for sports is heating up. Recently, a 600-square-meter pop-up cross-country “field” appeared on Floor B1 of Coco Park shopping mall, in the heart of the city’s CBD.
With soil, plants, and even a five-meter-long rock-climbing ramp, citizens can take part in eight challenging activities, including quincuncial piles, weightlifting, and frisbee in this “Let’s go wild” event orchestrated by the shopping mall.
Various games and interactive events will take place on-site. From 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Aug. 3, visitors will be able to experience the excitement of rugby in two competitive matches. There will also be a free rugby coaching session on the afternoon of Aug. 4.
Moreover, from now until Aug. 2, eight sports brands and 24 cultural creative brands are hosting a sports-themed fair, complete with music performances.
Shenzhen Daily photographer Lin Songtao has checked out the venue. Let’s enjoy a taste of the urban “wilderness” through his lens.
