New transport link between science hubs boosts connectivity

A new express line that connects Guangming Science City in Shenzhen with Songshan Lake in neighboring Dongguan was officially launched Saturday.

This new transportation link aims to facilitate easier travel and strengthen collaboration between the two pivotal science hubs within the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area.

The express line, Bus No. 7811, was jointly launched by the Guangming district government and the Songshan Lake Management Committee. It offers commuters a smooth and convenient travel option, with stops located at key points such as the Guangming Cultural and Art Center, Fenghuangcheng Metro Station, and the Guangming City Airport Terminal. Operating on weekends and holidays, this service aims to enhance the overall commuting experience for passengers.

Throughout a six-month trial period, the express line will provide 14 round trips on weekends and holidays, priced at 8 yuan per ticket. Tickets are available for purchase via the "Shenzhen Bus Travel" platform on WeChat mini program, with complimentary rides offered during the first three weekends (July 27-28, Aug. 3-4, Aug. 10-11).

The recent inauguration of the Guangming City Terminal has broadened transportation choices for residents in the area. With this new terminal, passengers can now conveniently access the Shenzhen airport in 40 minutes, greatly enhancing the connectivity within the region. Operating hours for the service at the Guangming terminal are from 5:20 a.m. to 9:20 p.m., while the service at the Shenzhen airport runs from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. the next day, with one departure scheduled per hour.

At the Guangming terminal, travelers have access to a range of airport amenities including check-in services and the option to choose their flight seats in advance. Screens within the terminal display live flight updates, keeping passengers informed about the latest flight information. A specialized customer service team is available to help with boarding announcements, directions to gates, luggage storage, and baggage assistance, guaranteeing a seamless and pleasant journey for passengers.

Passengers can relax in a hotel-style waiting area at the Guangming terminal, which features comfortable seating, self-service tea, a medical kit, portable chargers, and free WiFi, along with various other conveniences.

The introduction of the "Guangming City Airport Terminal-Shenzhen Bao’an International Airport-Zhongshan Aviation Port" interconnecting line further enhances travel options, offering a direct route from Guangming to Zhongshan.

The goal of these initiatives is to streamline travel for residents by enhancing public transportation services and improving connectivity between important locations in the region.
