In a bid to encourage the consumption of digital products and support the upgrade of household electronics, the Nanshan District Bureau of Commerce has joined forces with e-commerce giant JD.com to initiate a substantial trade in subsidy program.
Currently ongoing, this special subsidy session is tailored for 3C products (computers, communications, and consumer electronics), aiming to provide a financial boost to Shenzhen residents looking to acquire the latest tech gadgets.
Eligible consumers within Shenzhen who have completed JD’s real name authentication process can take advantage of this initiative. By simply searching “Nanshan Trade in” (南山以旧换新) on the JD app, individuals gain access to the exclusive activity page where they can partake in the subsidy program.
The subsidy is straightforward: when trading in an old device for a new one, consumers will receive a 10% discount on the displayed price of the new product during the checkout process. This discount is applied directly to the purchase, with a maximum subsidy of 500 yuan (US$69.76) per order.
However, to ensure widespread benefit, the program limits participation to four trade-in subsidies per consumer, with two subsidies available each for 3C products and household appliances. Additionally, no single consumer can receive more than 2000 yuan in total subsidies.
The Nanshan District Government has allocated a generous sum of 40 million yuan for this program, with an even split of 20 million yuan designated for both 3C products and home appliances. The subsidies are available on a first-come, first-served basis.
According to JD.com, there is an extensive range of 3C products eligible for subsidies, including popular categories such as mobile phones, laptops, tablets, printers, and smart watches. This diversity ensures that whether consumers are looking to upgrade their work-from-home setup or simply seeking the latest in wearable technology, there is something for everyone within the scope of this initiative.
