Innovation exhibition showcases GBA achievements

The 2024 Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area Innovation Achievements Exhibition, organized by the Hong Kong Commercial Daily and iHorizon Group (HK) Ltd., was launched in Hong Kong recently. 

The event, under the theme "Empowering New Productive Forces and Leading High-Quality Development," features nearly 80 display boards showcasing the innovative prowess of the Greater Bay Area. This exhibition aims to provide residents in the region with a firsthand experience of its innovative strength.

The Greater Bay Area has seen remarkable economic growth in recent years, with the total economic output surpassing 14 trillion yuan (US$ 1.97 trillion) in 2023, underlining its economic vitality and potential for further development.

During the opening ceremony, Lan An, the executive vice president and executive chief editor of the Hong Kong Commercial Daily, highlighted the importance of the region's efforts in promoting new productive forces as a window to showcase high-quality development in China.

The Greater Bay Area is a hub for cutting-edge advancements in high-tech industries, high-end services, urban culture, and tourism infrastructure. Furthermore, it is dedicated to creating a premium living environment that facilitates both work and leisure activities. 

Joseph Chan, the undersecretary for Financial Services and the Treasury Bureau of Hong Kong SAR, highlighted the Greater Bay Area's role as a crucial platform for China's modernization efforts in a video link at the ceremony. Through scientific and technological innovation, traditional industries are being revitalized, new business models are being explored, and high-quality development in Hong Kong and the Greater Bay Area is being promoted, according to Chan.

The exhibition will continue its tour to various cities in the Greater Bay Area such as Macao, Shenzhen, Guangzhou, Dongguan, Huizhou, Foshan, Zhaoqing, and Jiangmen, showcasing the achievements in high-quality development and city integration. These endeavors align closely with the nation's comprehensive development strategy, indicating a promising future for the Greater Bay Area in driving innovation, economic growth, and regional cooperation.
