Pingshan District People’s Hospital
The relocation and reconstruction project of Pingshan District People’s Hospital in Shenzhen has won a silver award in the "Architecture-Proposed-International" category of London Design Awards.
Located in Shahu area in Pingshan, this project is a large medical complex with a floor area of 464,000 square meters. The site was previously a hill that had been partially excavated for an expressway. The design preserves the hill and transforms the natural space into a vibrant urban park.
The hospital’s medical facilities were built in flat areas, while other functional spaces for research, education, and administration are situated around the park. This integration creates a shared space for patients, medical staff, and the surrounding community.

The hospital's public space facilitates a connection with the garden. Essential amenities, including a bookstore, gift shops and restaurants, will be integrated into this area. Additionally, a balcony on the inpatient floor provides an ideal setting for family gatherings during hospital visits.
The hospital also incorporates advanced energy-saving technologies and smart facilities. Upon completion, it will cater to nearly 10,000 outpatients daily, accommodate 2,000 medical beds, provide regional emergency support, and serve as a platform for medical research and innovation in biological sciences.
The London Design Awards is an international competition that recognizes exceptional designs and outstanding creative projects worldwide. It invites product designers, architects, interior designers, graphic designers, UX/UI designers and any designers of all background to participate.
