Pingshan hosts power battery conference

More than 400 scholars from renowned universities and research institutes, as well as representatives from various enterprises, gathered to discuss the development of safety technologies, quality improvement, and safety control for power batteries at the Second Power Battery Quality Safety Conference held in Pingshan District on Sept. 19-20.

Co-organized by China Association for Consumer Products Quality and Safety Promotion and Shenzhen Automotive Research Institute, BIT, the conference was themed "The Quality and Safety of Power Battery Industry in the Age of Digital Intelligence," aiming to create a platform for exchange, foster technological innovation, enhance the high-quality development within the industry, and contribute to carbon peak and carbon neutrality goals.

Academician Sun Fengchun from the Chinese Academy of Engineering elaborated on the key technologies and management necessary for achieving safety and longevity in power batteries. He discussed key aspects such as design, manufacturing, usage, and recycling. He emphasized that the high-quality development of power batteries requires not only technological innovation but also meticulous management throughout the product lifecycle.

Xiao Lingyun, from the State Administration for Market Regulation's Defective Product Recall Technical Center, highlighted the complexities of power battery fire incidents by analyzing the causes of fires in new energy vehicles (NEVs). He said that establishing a fire defect analysis system and carrying out precise quality improvement work could effectively reduce power battery fire accidents, thereby providing strong support for the safe operation of NEVs.

Representatives from major companies, including BYD, CATL, GAC, SAIC, Geely, Changan, and the China Automotive Technology and Research Center, shared their experiences and research findings on power battery technology innovation, quality management, and safety control. Additionally, several experts delivered insightful speeches on topics such as lifecycle quality management for power batteries, thermal runaway safety and testing technologies, and the construction of safety systems for NEV batteries, offering new perspectives for the high-quality development of the power battery industry.

The conference urged enterprises to stay abreast of advancements, strengthen technological innovation and intelligent upgrades, and continuously enhance the performance, safety, and reliability of power batteries. These efforts are essential for bolstering the high-quality development of the NEV industry.

Attendees also visited BYD in Pingshan, gaining a deeper understanding of the company's production processes and technological innovations in power batteries. This experience provided participants with a close look at the solid foundation and dynamic momentum of the NEV industry development in Pingshan.
