More than 20 Jing Fang scholars from 13 countries and 84 Chinese scholars, as well as more than 500 participants, discussed the heritage and development of Jing Fang at an international conference held Sept. 20-22 in Pingshan District.
Jing Fang, or classic formulas, refers to a collection of herbal prescriptions primarily from key texts dating back to the Han Dynasty (202 B.C.-A.D. 220), a period often regarded as the golden age of traditional Chinese medicine (TCM).
Co-organized by Nanjing University of Chinese Medicine, Jiangsu Hospital of TCM, Jiangsu Association of Chinese Medicine, Shenzhen Association of Chinese Medicine, and Shenzhen Pingle Orthopedic Hospital (Shenzhen Pingshan Traditional Chinese Medicine Hospital), the conference featured seminars and salons dedicated to Jing Fang education and scientific research. Experts shared valuable insights on the application of Jing Fang in clinical treatment.

The conference was initiated in 2015 by Huang Huang, head of International Jing Fang Institute of Nanjing University of Chinese Medicine. This year's conference is the sixth edition, aiming to bolster international cooperation and promoting the global reach of Jing Fang.
Pingshan is home to the Shenzhen Pingle Orthopedic Hospital (Shenzhen Pingshan Traditional Chinese Medicine Hospital), several TCM clinics and TCM departments in other hospitals. Recently, a TCM night market was held at Pingshan Culture Center, where TCM medical professionals offered free diagnoses and treatments to residents. During the night market, visitors also enjoyed herbal tea drinks and snacks, received massage hammers filled with mugwort leaves, and obtained hospital reservation coupons. The medical staff shared health tips and disease prevention knowledge, further spreading TCM culture throughout the community.
