Exhibition commemorating Marco Polo

This year marks the 700th anniversary of Marco Polo’s death. The “700th Anniversary of Marco Polo’s Death — Sino-Italian Illustration Joint Exhibition” being held at Nantou Ancient Town is exhibiting over 40 original prints from works such as “The Chinese Empire Illustrated” and “Edmund Dulac’s Picture Books,” conveying the Silk Road spirit of peace, cooperation, openness, inclusiveness, mutual learning, and win-win collaboration.

"Recreating Spiritual Realm"

"Recreating Spiritual Realm" is a contemporary art exhibition in theme of "Art and Technology." It showcases some artistic practices by six artists using contemporary technology to present traditional culture in a new way.

Music along Belt and Road

Lead by pipa master Wu Man, this concert tomorrow night will include a mix of Western classics and Chinese works, inviting you to a journey along the ancient silk road. Those interested can reserve tickets via the official WeChat account of the Shenzhen Concert Hall (ID: szyinyuet).

‘Ruan Lingyu’

The poignant drama “Ruan Lingyu” unfolds the tumultuous life of one of China’s most esteemed artists from the 1930s, Ruan Lingyu, the silent film queen. In the 1920s and 1930s, Shanghai was a cosmopolitan metropolis with a glamorous movie industry, and Ruan was one of the industry’s biggest stars. Raised by a single mother who worked as a housemaid, Ruan began acting as a teenager, and some have speculated that she drew on her difficult upbringing to bring depth to her mesmerizing performance in the films she played.

‘Folding’ & ‘Near the Terrace’

“Folding” draws its imagery from the famous line “Great sounds are seldom heard; great forms are without form” in Laozi’s “Tao Te Ching.” The piece aims to transcend auditory and visual perceptions through a minimalist and subtly measured “life of material movement.” On stage, the mysterious chanting of Tibetan Buddhist scriptures intertwines with the ethereal music of British composer John Tavener.

Hip-hop: Let’s Jump

Featuring intense 4v4 battles and captivating team performances, this event showcases the best of hip-hop culture from Shenzhen and Hong Kong. Renowned hip-hop dancers from both cities will take the stage.

Piano recital
