Zheng Minhong claimed victory in the men’s evergreen category, while Tian Yu secured the women’s overall championship.
Nearly 10,000 participants took part in this year's Golfathon, according to Han Zhishan, general manager of Mission Hills Golf Club. “Mission Hills has successfully brought the Golfathon into its third decade. Together with everyone, we will continue to write the legend of amateur golf in China and let the spirit of golf shine,” Han stated.
Approximately half of the participants progressed from the qualifying rounds held two weeks prior. This year’s finals took place at the challenging Olazabal Golf Course and Norman Golf Course in Mission Hills Dongguan, both designed to test players' skills and adaptability under pressure.
Launched in 2004 to celebrate Mission Hills’ recognition as the world’s largest golf club, the Golfathon offers golfing enthusiasts the opportunity to play on the club’s 10 award-winning golf courses in Shenzhen and Dongguan.
Over the past 20 years, the Mission Hills Golfathon has attracted nearly 120,000 participants from more than 30 countries, competing over courses designed by golf legends like Jack Nicklaus, Greg Norman, Nick Faldo, and Annika Sorenstam.
The Golfathon Champion of 2024 wins a Guest Package for Mission Hills Golfathon 2025, a free Golf & Hotel Package at Mission Hills Haikou, including a 2-night stay in a Spa Villa and 2 green vouchers. The division winners and first runners-up will receive the Mission Hills Haikou Golf & Stay Packages, respectively.
“Though this year’s Golfathon has officially ended, the golf carnival at Mission Hills will continue. From Oct. 4 to 6, the Saudi Aramco Team Series will take place at Mission Hills Shenzhen. Twenty-eight teams will compete over two days on the World Cup Course, including three rounds of individual matches featuring renowned players such as Yin Ruoning, Lin Xiyu, and Alison Lee. We look forward to welcoming everyone to this prestigious women’s European Tour event,” said Tenniel Chu, vice chairman of Mission Hills Group.
