Nanshan sees record highs in cultural and tourism consumption during National Day holiday

The recently concluded National Day holiday saw a significant surge in cultural and tourism consumption in Nanshan District. According to statistics from Chinese online travel agency Ctrip.com, the district has experienced remarkable growth in tourist numbers and revenue.

From Oct. 1 to Oct. 7, Nanshan welcomed more than 1.25 million tourists, including 238,800 overnight tourists and over 1 million one-day tourists. The total tourism revenue for the district soared to over 1.34 billion yuan(US$190.74 million), reflecting the vibrant state of the local tourism industry.

Ctrip also revealed that the Nanshan’s online travel agencies (OTAs) saw some 1 million tourists during the National Day holiday, marking a year-on-year increase of 22.96%. The total consumption amount through OTAs reached 189.43 million yuan, a year-on-year increase of 19.62%.

Nanshan District, rich in tourism resources, offers a variety of cultural and tourism options, including historical sites, theme parks, urban leisure, and suburban ecological spots. The district’s major scenic spots and commercial areas introduced unique and innovative initiatives to provide high-quality experiences for both residents and tourists during the National Day holiday.

One of the highlights was the cultural festival at Splendid China • China Folk Culture Villages, which featured distinctive ethnic drum performances. The event attracted a large number of tourists seeking cultural experiences.

Window of the World also contributed to the tourism boom by launching a street art carnival and a new commercial block. The scenic spot received nearly 200,000 visitors during the holiday, with family trips and short-distance tours being the primary draw. Visitors from outside the province accounted for 55% of the total, indicating a significant increase in long-distance and inbound tourism.

Moreover, Happy Valley’s “National Day Fun Week” was a major hit, offering a range of exciting activities such as intangible cultural heritage fire pot performances, Mecha displays, and electronic music parties, catering to a diverse audience and further bolstering the district’s tourism appeal.
