The Xili Lake Greenway's demonstration section, an ecological project in Nanshan District, has recently been recognized on the global stage, winning the prestigious Parks & Open Space Landscape category at the 2024 MUSE Design Awards.
This year, the MUSE Design Awards has drawn entries from over 100 countries and regions, with approximately 40,000 submissions vying for top honors. China's design excellence was highlighted as 29 domestic projects were awarded, with the Xili Lake Greenway demonstration section standing out as the sole recipient of the Parks & Open Space Landscape category in Shenzhen.

Situated in Xili Subdistrict, the Xili Lake Greenway spans about 15 kilometers in total. As a significant part of X-Lake Sciensity’s ecological environment, the greenway section connects major parks, higher education institutions, R&D institutes, communities, and the industrial park within X-Lake Sciensity.
It also forms a corridor-like tourism system with Yangtai Mountain, the Dasha River Water Corridor, the Shenzhen Bay Leisure Belt, and Tanglang Mountain.
Last year, a 3.7-kilometer-long section of demonstration greenway around Xili Lake was completed and opened. It starts at the Dasha River Ecological Corridor, continues north along Xilihu Road, and then connects to the Dakan Yanqingxi Greenway.
The second phase of the non-demonstration section is about 12 kilometers long. After completion, it will connect the beginning and end of the demonstration section, forming a closed loop around the Xili Reservoir.
The district’s construction and engineering department, along with the design team, have shown immense respect for the environment throughout the project's development. Their efforts to minimize human interference with nature while upholding the principles of ecological harmony have resulted in a high-standard greenway.
The project not only coexists harmoniously with the surrounding buildings but also serves the community by providing a space where citizens can connect with nature, facilitated by thoughtful planning and the integration of mountains and rivers to enhance ecological beauty and promote ecological development.
