TÜV Rheinland holds a new service launch conference in Shenzhen on Friday.
TÜV Rheinland, a Germany-based third-party testing, inspection and certification services provider, held its annual new services launch event in Shenzhen on Friday, expanding its innovative testing and certification services in the Greater China region to cover a wider range of sectors with a focus on low-carbon and healthy living.
The German firm started its annual new services launch event for the Greater China region in Shenzhen in 2016 and this year marks the eighth consecutive year of such an event.
Jay Yang, vice president of TÜV Rheinland Greater China Electrical, opens the 2024 TÜV Rheinland new services launch event.
“TÜV Rheinland has held new services launch events for eight consecutive years. We have stuck to our original intention of testing and researching products from the perspective of user experience, combining the results of scientific ergonomic experiments to develop product evaluation standards that are close to user needs, providing technical support for product upgrades and iterations, and at the same time offering professional guidance for users to select high-quality products,” said Jay Yang, vice president of TÜV Rheinland Greater China Electrical.

It is the third year in a row that TÜV Rheinland launched new services for the Greater China region in Shenzhen. At last year’s event held in Shenzhen in November, TÜV Rheinland unveiled new services that cover areas such as hearing care, eye protection for displays, cleaning and sterilization of household appliances, and carbon reduction. These new services are well received by domestic firms such as major home appliance maker Midea Group Co., intelligent speech and technology iFlytek Co. and smartphone maker Honor Device Co., which have received a number of certifications from TÜV Rheinland for their latest products covered by the German firm’s 2023 new services, according to Yang.

For lighting environment services, TÜV Rheinland established a healthy lighting laboratory, proposing a more systematic testing methodology for lighting systems within spaces. This involves simulating actual usage environments to assess the lighting quality and eye-health performance of lighting systems, helping lighting product manufacturers provide users with a more comfortable experience.
In smart cockpit services, TÜV Rheinland introduced a safety and health assessment system for automotive smart cockpits from four dimensions: safety, health, intelligence, and entertainment. TÜV Rheinland has set up a human factors testing laboratory for smart cockpits, researching the safety of various components under different scenarios while focusing on the real user experience of each function.
In the area of display environment services, TÜV Rheinland unveiled a new “2+2+1” framework and continuously conducts fundamental research with upstream partners to promote innovation in its entire display service. Currently, TÜV Rheinland focuses on health and comfort, launching services related to beneficial light spectra and contextual displays, and combining experimental data from its human factors lab to help products meet higher safety and performance standards.
TÜV Rheinland said it will continue to deepen its exploration in service areas, refine testing standards and particularly invest more in upgrading and expanding its human factors testing laboratory and talent development.
The aim is to study the relationship between products and users more closely, providing solid technical support for product upgrades, according to the German firm.
