On Nov. 1, around 40 people — including deputies and members of the Longhua District People’s Congress and the Longhua District Committee of the Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC), subdistrict representatives, reporters, as well as expats and local residents — took a sightseeing bus to experience the changes and developments in Longhua's various sectors that are closely related to people's wellbeing, such as education, healthcare, and technological advancement.

During their visit to the National Innovation Center for Advanced Medical Devices, the group was amazed by a dazzling array of cutting-edge medical equipment, including surgical robots, sleep monitoring devices, and extracorporeal membrane oxygenation (ECMO) machines developed and produced by local companies.

As the only national innovation center in the medical device field, the center was established in April 2020 with the approval of the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology. Its mission is to overcome technological bottlenecks, advance the medical industry to high-end solutions, and safeguard the health of the Chinese people.
The group then visited the Shenzhen Children’s Hospital Longhua Campus, which opened one day before the tour. Ample hospital beds, professional medical staff, and spacious outpatient and inpatient areas made a significant impression on the visitors.
The new campus is twice the size of the hospital’s Futian campus and is designed to accommodate up to 10,000 outpatient visits per day, addressing the urgent demand for high-quality pediatric medical resources in the city and throughout the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area. Members of the local People’s Congress and CPPCC collected feedback from hospital residents to report their needs to legislative authorities.

The final stop of the tour was Shenzhen Middle School Longhua School. Visitors experienced the diverse extracurricular courses offered to students, including AI programming, 3D printing, and Lego DIY. The school’s intelligent sports space and canteen also received positive feedback — an LED display shows students’ sports data in real time, and the canteen staff is informed in advance of the meals selected by the students’ parents when students scan their faces at the food windows.
Louay Ali Dib, from Syria, shared, “After living in Longhua for almost two years, I can feel the development of the area as there are more schools, shopping centers, and libraries near my residence. I’m quite happy and satisfied with my life in Longhua.”
This event was the first in a series of sessions offering residents an opportunity to explore Longhua’s developments in the wellbeing sector. More sessions are expected to follow.
