The new standards, jointly released by the State Administration for Market Supervision, the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, the Ministry of Public Security, and the National Fire and Rescue Bureau, cover safety technical specifications for lithium-ion batteries, electrical safety requirements, and charger safety technical requirements.

The introduction of these new safety standards is aimed to prevent and mitigate safety accidents caused by battery-related issues. The standards include stringent criteria for safety indicators, circuit separation, the prohibition of on-board chargers, and the incorporation of permanent traceability coding labels.

Electric bicycles sold from Nov. 1 without valid certification will not be eligible for registration with the traffic police authority.

For inquiries regarding the registration of electric bicycles, residents can contact hotline numbers 18998910935 or 18998910936 (from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m.), or leave a message for consultation through channels like the official WeChat accounts of the Shenzhen traffic police or the Shenzhen vehicle management office.
