Two small and medium-sized enterprise (SME) industrial clusters in Guangming District have been recognized as provincial-level SME industrial clusters with local features, Bao'an Daily reported.
One of these clusters specializes in intelligent transmission and sensing devices, while the other focuses on electronic materials.
Among the nine industry clusters in Shenzhen that have won provincial recognition, encompassing pivotal sectors such as cutting-edge technology, high-end manufacturing, materials industry, and information technology, Guangming's achievement stands out with the inclusion of two clusters, leading the city in cluster selection.
SME industrial clusters with local features are characterized by their focus on leading industries, and their distinctive advantages, features and core competitiveness.
Each year, the recognition of provincial-level industry clusters follows a stringent evaluation process requiring the fulfillment of nine key criteria, including strong core competitiveness, proven success in nurturing high-quality SMEs, efficient collaboration within the industrial supply chain, robust innovation capabilities, visible impacts of digital transformation, and active involvement in industrial partnerships.
To qualify for provincial-level industry clusters, the leading industry's development within the cluster must excel in its respective field, with high brand awareness and exceptional output performance.
The stipulated requirements mandate that the cluster's annual output value for the past three years must surpass 4 billion yuan (US$550 million), with SMEs contributing over 70% of the total output value, and an annual average output value growth rate exceeding 10%.
Guangming District's proactive efforts in advancing industrial growth are evident through the nurturing and expansion of nearly 60 high-quality companies specializing in intelligent transmission and sensing devices. The cluster now boasts one national-level "little giant" enterprise, and 11 national-level specialized and sophisticated enterprises, with their output value reaching over 14 billion yuan in 2023.
Meanwhile, the electronic materials industry cluster in Guangming has demonstrated outstanding performance, leading not only in Shenzhen but also nationwide. Comprising close to 40 enterprises, including five national-level and 19 provincial-level specialized and sophisticated enterprises, the cluster achieved an impressive output value exceeding 14 billion yuan in 2023.
Guangming District will implement more dedicated measures to bolster the development of its key industrial clusters, the report said.
