From Friday to Monday, Shenzhen was transformed into a vibrant hub of musical unity as the World Choir Council kicked off its highly anticipated Multiethnic Choral Week in the city. The event brought together musicians and choirs from across the globe, creating an inspiring platform for cross-cultural exchange and collaboration.

One of the highlights of the event was the Multiethnic Children’s Choir in Concert, held at the Shenzhen Concert Hall on Saturday. The concert featured a heartwarming performance by children from diverse ethnic backgrounds, including the Tajik children from Xinjiang, the Bulang children from Yunnan, and ethnic performers from the Jino community. These talented young artists joined forces with the Shenzhen-based Chanson De Montagne Children’s Choir to deliver a stirring musical journey through time.

In addition to the concert, the choral week was filled with a series of enriching events, including four masterclasses hosted by music experts from Latvia, Greece, Hungary, and Malaysia, as well as the “China’s Multiethnic Choirs” seminar, which highlighted the rich diversity of choral traditions across China’s many ethnic minority groups.

Let’s take a closer look at the Multiethnic Children’s Choir in Concert through the lens of Shenzhen Daily photographer Liu Xudong.
